The face of Newfie Girl is none other than my cousin Rachel Lynn Winsor from Little St. Lawrence. I was so happy to choose her as my Newfie Girl and I am glad I waited to tell Jennifer’s story until now so that I could use Rachel as the book cover girl….

Hi!!! Welcome to the website for NEWFIE GIRL. Newfie Girl is the 72 page children’s book written and self published by Candida D. Gosling Kilfoy. It was originally written back in the early 80’s on notepads, napkins and scraps of paper.

I spent the whole summer writing about a young girl named Jennifer who had returned to a small outport town of Newfoundland after hearing the news that her grandmother was very ill and dying of cancer. The series follows Jennifer from age 11 – 15. There are currently around 10 books in the series. The first book Newfie Girl is the shortest book and begins the story of Jennifer as she settles into the little town of Burin Bay on the edge of the sea.
